Classic British Fine Dining - update 2

Wow the Hodsock Classic British Fine Dining Evening was tremendous. 12 courses packed with inspiration, using the finest local produce and some outstanding creativity from Stephen Harrison (a Master Chef of Great Britain).

I particularly enjoyed the Partridge and Pear Sorbet and the Dessert Course was sublime – Crème Brule served in a Duck Egg, the most indulgent Milkshake I have ever tasted and a Burger and Chips made up of sweet Brioche, chocolate truffle and mango. Brilliant and bizarre!

Celebrating 21 Years of Snowdrops at Hodsock Priory

The excitement for the 2012 Snowdrop season is building. With just four months to go, we’re making the final plans to celebrate 21 years of Snowdrops at Hodsock.

Next year, visitors will be able to take short tours of the gardens, listen to historic talks about the Priory House and book on to gardening demonstrations from our guest gardeners.

Ken is upgrading the kiosks and tidying the woodland ready for winter. Lynda is re-branding the Tea Room, to become a Café Bar serving homemade dishes using local produce, teas and handmade cakes, along with a local tipple from the Welbeck Brewery.

Lots still to do and a busy winter ahead! Gates open from 4th February to 4th March 2012.

Classic British Fine Dining

I'm particularly looking forward to the Classic British Fine Dining Evening on Fri 7th October.

It's something that suits the atmosphere of Hodsock, when we turn the house into a candlelit restaurant for the night. It's a unique experience for friends who want to get together and are looking for a truly exceptional evening.

Stephen Harrison (a Master Chef of Great Britain) has devised an amazing 12 course taster menu and selected aperitifs and wines for each course. Tickets are now on sale.

Hodsock Honey from Brian the Bee

Enjoyed Hodsock Honey on my breakfast toast this morning. Brian the Bee delivered two jars of freshly made honey from our hives on Sunday morning. You can't beat it.

Brian 'the Bee' Wilde is retired and lives in Worksop with his wife Joan. He keeps the Bees at Hodsock in the Murray Armor Memorial Apiary. It's a joy to see him at work. Murray was a very close family friend from Blyth. When he died in 1998, his wife Jeanne asked if we would keep alive his memory by keeping bees in the Victorian beehives Murray had collected.
